We are delighted to host this exhibition by Laura Parker, winner of the Ashbourne Festival Summer Exhibition 2022. The Courtney Gallery sponsors the prizes for the Summer Exhibition every year and part of Laura’s prize is a solo exhibition with the Gallery. We are looking forward to have her vivid, contemporary abstract work brighten up the gallery space from the 9th to 23rd of September.  

Laura takes inspiration from the forms, shapes and colours found in nature. Building textural layers and then breaking through them to reveal what lies beneath is part of the process in her work. The covering over and then exposing what is under the surface, for her, expresses the fundamental human need to be known and understood. She uses colour to reflect the sense of aliveness and vibrancy which flows through nature and all living beings. We are sure her light will shine very brightly and that she will go from strength to strength as an artist.
