Mark Langley

Mark’s work is inspired by rural life and landscape. He is perhaps best known still for his highly detailed drawings produced in a combination of graphite and colour pencil. Eventually working in watercolour then oil paints he has gone on to develop a more creative pointillist style of painting for his current landscapes.

Mark finds his inspiration by immersing himself in the countryside of the Peak District and surrounding area. The right place, time and illumination is vital for the spirit of his pictures. Light is a reoccuring theme in his landscapes today.
A professional Artist, Mark has worked full-time since 2009 from his studio in Belper, Derbyshire. He trained in design and illustration graduating from Sheffield College in 1995, before starting his working life as a graphic artist. In 2001 animal portraits by commission started Mark’s return to paper based art. An interest in buildings prompted an architectural theme in some later work and more recently landscapes have captured Mark’s interest.
Mark produces original paintings and drawing for exhibition and is always happy to undertake commissions of animals, buildings or other subjects.
