Jonathan Higginbotham

Jonathan is a classically trained architectural second degree master stonemason. During his 26 year career Jonathan served his time on the York Minster and worked as a fellowcraft / journeyman mason on many of the UK’s prolific churches and cathedrals.

Jonathan has worked with all types of UK stone, including gritstone, sandstone, and limestone. Now retired from stonemasonry, Jonathan works primarily with the local Peak Moor Derbyshire sandstone, carving traditional v-cut 2D plates and 4D sculptures.

Jonathan has a meticulous eye and hand for detail, and a vision that can lead to stunning, whimsical stone art in addition to traditional pieces.

All work is genuine stone, carved traditionally by mallet and chisel, and commissions are welcomed.
