You are invited to the preview of a solo exhibition by popular Peak District animal artist
WENDY DARKER
‘Art, Love and Wildlife’
Friday 1st December
where you can meet the artist between 4-7pm The exhibition will run from:
2nd – 31st December
"Art, Love & Wildlife"
Wendy always had a great love of the natural world and the animals that inhabit it, which she so skilfully expresses through her art. Her best work has been created through direct observation, showing her interest in painting and sketching from life, form the basic backbones of the art. This exhibition is the culmination of several year’s work created from sketches and observation of the natural world.
Following her sketching trip to Yellowstone, she’s decided to paint the American plains Bison as the centre point of her recent work. The heartbreaking destruction by man of this majestic creature, and then a turnaround which prevented their near extinction, from a little more than 1000 animals to the thriving populations today, is inspirational. She says: “This gives me joy in my work, in a world where environmental problems are so prevalent.”
Danny’s sculptures in the exhibition compliments her work beautifully, also reflecting the environmental concerns which are affecting the many species which share the earth with us.
We hope you find inspiration in this celebration of how man CAN reverse their destructive actions on the environment.
If you cannot make it to the gallery, we will also have an online exhibition that will be on our website from 4th of December.

Own Art is a national initiative, supported by Arts Council England, which enables anyone and everyone to start their own art collection. Applying for an Own Art loan is easy! The first stage is the difficult bit – deciding what to buy. Take a look at our wonderful range of artworks and see how easy it is to take it home.
For example, this gorgeous acrylic painting by Wendy Darker costs £750.00 which may seem like a lot to pay in one go. But with an Own Art loan, you could be paying £75.00 a month for 10 months with 0% interest. And the best part? You can take your painting home with you straight away.
Get warm and cosy with some of our winter favourites, like our bacon & brie and turkey breast sandwiches, roasted beetroot salad and a choice of delicious soups and quiches.
